topics related to interests pursued in his sculptures → 彫刻関連のトピックですので、

ここでいうcast は型のこと
impression は下記のいずれかと思います。

日本語でどう表現するかはよくわかりませんが、何かで「跡」を作るという美術はあると思いますが、それのことかもしれません。

それか、performancesのトピックスの話でもあるので、モノマネの意味のimpression かもしれません。Naumanがもしモノマネをやる方であれば、こちらの意味と思います。
