Please show me othersならば成り立ちますが、
smallerなどの形容詞のあとにothersは置くことができません。 Please show me other smaller ones なら言うことができます。
またsome とotherを図解すると↓
some〇〇〇〇/ other〇〇〇/other〇〇〇〇
複数あるうちの何個かを選んでsomeと呼び、その残りから更にランダムに複数ぶとotherと呼ばれます。この関係性からSome とothers は似ているのが分かるかと思いますが smaller some ones が駄目でsome smaller ones が成り立つのは分かると思います。こちらも参加になさってください。
